Amilcar de Castro

Bio

Amilcar de Castro (1920/2002) Sculptor, engraver, draughtsman, layout designer, scenographer, lecturer. In 1944, he attended the open course in drawing and painting with Guignard, at the School of Fine Arts of Belo Horizonte. Into contact with the artist, Max Bill, he made his first Constructivist sculpture, which was exhibited at the Bienal Internacional de São Paulo in 1953.He took part in the exhibitions of the Constructivist group, signing the Neoconcretist Manifesto in 1959.
