Statement

Yiyú Finke has lived and worked in Misiones since she was born in 1960. Her practice develops artistic operations and projects that bring together painting, writing, and space. Devoted to the triadic universe of painting–writing–space, she has developed a repertoire of recurring images such as the cassava leaf, the ant, Vaca Barby, bunches of bananas, vases, and textile structures. Since 1994, she has been building an ongoing dialogue between a shed and a rural house located in Salto Encantado. Persistent in her practice and with a historical body of work spanning from 1982 to the present, she situates her activity within artistic initiatives interested in decolonization and cooperation in art. She has been and continues to be part of several collaborative working groups.
