Ciudad de las Artes
Statement

The City of the Arts, located in downtown Panama City next to the Metropolitan Natural Park, is home to the National Symphony Orchestra and the National Ballet. It also houses the schools of Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, Design, and Music, as well as the High School Program of the Diversified Arts Center, the Network of Choirs and Orchestras, and the Youth Music School.

The complex includes the multifunctional Aurea “Baby” Torrijos Theater, with a seating capacity of 400 as its main performance venue; three auditoriums — Herbert de Castro, Roque Cordero, and Carmen Cedeño —; a gallery for large-scale events of over 1,000 m²; exhibition halls, a library, a cafeteria, and the headquarters of the Circle of Writers of Panama, all connected through a plaza surrounded by nature that fosters educational, artistic, and community activities.

The City of the Arts is envisioned as an accessible space for all audiences and a permanent showcase of culture in all its forms.
