Through this recognition, SURA reaffirms its commitment to cultural development in the region, promoting works that articulate critical reflection, social awareness, and innovation in their processes and materials. The prize also considers the overall quality of the presentation, highlighting stands that achieve a coherent, solid, and meaningful display.
In this edition, the SURA Award for Best Stand in the NEXT section — curated by Juan Canela and focused on young galleries and emerging artists — was awarded to Mahara & Co, in recognition of the strength of its project and its ability to sustain and project a Latin American scene in the current context.
The jury — composed of Irene Gelfman, Sol Henaro, and Alexia Tala — emphasized the conceptual consistency of the proposal and the clarity of its presentation. In line with the spirit of NEXT, the section fosters new materialities and approaches that contribute to expanding the landscape of Latin American contemporary art.
