Solange Heilenkotter

Bio

Chilean visual artist with a degree in Graphic Design from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, she transitioned from a career in design and art direction to visual art research. She develops a unique language using polypropylene, acrylic, steel, and LED light in three-dimensional wall works, installations, and sculptures. Each piece is handcrafted, highlighting the material’s potential energy and evoking diverse interpretations. Her work has been exhibited in Chile, Argentina, and the USA, and is featured in galleries in Santiago and Miami, as well as private collections in Chile, Peru, and the USA.

Statement

Solange Heilenkotter’s work originates from the exploration of paper, inspired by Japanese tradition and contemporary architecture. She replaces organic paper with durable synthetic and polypropylene sheets, preserving lightness and fragility. Each piece emerges through movement, cutting, and tension, without preconceived ideas, until the desired form is found and fixed with custom techniques. Light plays a key role, altering perception from subtle to dramatic. Her practice transforms observation and gesture into three-dimensional artworks that balance delicacy and structure.
