Statement

I practice a geometry of isolation, guided by the logic of synthesis and by observing the relationships between active pictorial elements and those that seemingly withdraw from the composition. I look for deviations at the intersection of these decisions, with a particular interest in the act of subtraction.
I work with the mystery of the shadow through the painting of different geometric figures. Shadow has often been described as darkness, the hidden side. Louis-Ferdinand Céline wrote in Journey to the End of the Night that “everything of interest takes place in the shadows. Nothing is known of the true history of men.” Yet shadow could also be understood as a reserve of light.
