Marco Aviña
Bio
Marco Antonio Aviña [Mexico City, 1986].
Graduate of the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking “La Esmeralda.”
He has participated in projects of exhibition, production, and dissemination of contemporary art in Mexico. His artistic practice moves between management, curatorship, and painting. As a curator, he has taken part in various exhibition projects, and as a painter, he has shown his work in numerous group exhibitions in Mexico and abroad. He has also held four solo exhibitions:

Statement
He defines his work as allegories of rebellion, born from nostalgia for popular icons. He explores iconographic renewal as an anthropological process linked to the creation of symbols between the banal and the spiritual, within a commercialized aesthetic of defiance. His paintings draw from graffiti, cartoons, MTV, and advertising, reflecting on change, energy, and the transmutation of the pictorial object toward the dreamlike and the revolutionary.
