Statement
Gabriel Rocca’s photographic practice understands portraiture as a space where the individual, their surroundings, and the collective imagination of an era converge. His approach to musicians and figures of popular culture moves beyond conventional celebrity portraiture, creating images that reveal aspects of his subjects’ identities. Intimacy, everyday environments, gestures, and the relationship between the subject and their context play a central role in his work. In particular, his work on Argentine rock constitutes a sensitive visual archive of a cultural scene shaped by profound social and political transformations. His images not only document those who shaped history, but also contribute to the narratives through which society remembers its icons.
