Statement
Sofía López Mañán's work stems from a question that refuses to be settled: what do we call nature? As a photographer, filmmaker and naturalist, she explores how nature is imagined, represented and produced, focusing on the point where the natural and the constructed reveal themselves as a forced dichotomy. This question runs through all her work, from honey as a form of poetic resistance to the bond between human and non-human beings, in which domestication, technology and biology blur. For her, art is a mode of inquiry: not recording a nature already given, but exposing the mechanisms through which we manufacture it and, with it, the way we understand our own existence.
