Statement

This year, Pinta BAphoto’s Special Project is dedicated to Alberto Goldenstein (Buenos Aires, 1951), a key figure in Argentine contemporary photography. *2001MDQ2026*, curated by Irene Gelfman, brings together vintage prints from his *Mar del Plata, 2001* series with a new body of work made in 2026, twenty-five years later, in the same city. The project establishes a dialogue between two moments in Goldenstein’s practice and between two material histories of photography. Moving between archive and present, memory and experience, the images reveal what the passage of time transforms in places, photographs, and the artist’s gaze.
