Bio

Guada Diez is a photographer and communications specialist. She was born in Buenos Aires in 1978 and graduated in Communication Sciences from Universidad Austral. She trained in Ángela Copello's photography workshop and in food photography workshops with Erika Rojas, Copello, and Sebastián Israelit.
She took part in group exhibitions from Copello's workshop at Oda, Museo Raggio, and Fundación Marín. In 2025 she presented her work at Pinta BAphoto and will take part again in 2026. In October 2026 she will publish Buenos Aires Boom, a book produced together with India Ediciones.
She works in product, portrait, and travel photography, develops fine art work, and teaches photography workshops. In her personal work, color takes center stage: she is drawn to discovering it in everyday life and creating images filled with joy and a hopeful outlook. She explores how photography can converse with different formats — a book, the street, social media, or an exhibition — so each context opens a new way of seeing and experiencing the work

Statement

For more than a year, I walked through Buenos Aires with a camera in hand.
I went back to walking the same streets that, years earlier, I used to rush through on my way to college or work, almost always running late. I knew them by heart, but I had never really looked at them. This time I decided to walk differently: more slowly, with no urgent destination, letting the city reveal itself.
There were around thirty walks, some alone and others in very good company. On every outing, Buenos Aires seemed to offer me something unexpected. Again and again I came back with the feeling of having discovered a city I thought I knew, yet one that still had so much to reveal: a hidden rose garden in Puerto Madero, an Andalusian garden inside a museum, a sculpture restoration workshop in the middle of a plaza, a replica of the Statue of Liberty made by the very same Frédéric Bartholdi who created the one in New York.
Little by little, color became the way I made my way through that discovery. My Buenos Aires is a chromatic journey: a city that appears, transforms, and is looked at again through its colors.
But that outward journey was also an inward one. Each color took on its own meaning, tied to my moods, my questions, my processes. From there came the messages that accompany the images and that, like small signals, began to occupy public space.
We made posters and stuck them up in different corners of the city. Did you see one?
I say "we" because this work doesn't belong to photography alone. It's the result of a dialogue between image, graphic design, editorial production, and the city. A work that leaves the book, steps outside its frame, and returns to the streets that gave rise to it.
Buenos Aires Boom is exactly that: a city seen anew. An explosion of color. A gesture of joy and hope
