Aline Terzakyan Karagozlu

Bio

Aline Terzakyan de Karagozlu is an Armenian architect and photographer, born in Istanbul (Turkey) and based since childhood in Buenos Aires, the city where she raised her family. Her identity and artistic approach are the result of a crossing of cultures — an alchemy shaped by deep roots, travels, and multiple belongings.
A graduate architect from the Universidad de Belgrano, she discovered in photography an essential way of connecting with the world. In 2010 she began her photographic training, studying both in Buenos Aires and in France. For her, photography represents the opportunity to look more slowly and find meaning in details through light, texture, and waiting, combining technique with the adrenaline of catching instants to give them permanence in time.
Her artistic trajectory includes 21 exhibitions held between 2015 and 2026, presented mostly in Buenos Aires, Cariló, and Punta del Este. Her work has also been recognized with notable distinctions, including awards received from Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires and Estilo Pilar

Statement

Friendship
This image was born on a trip, amid shared laughter and memories that come from far away, from the childhood that still lives in us.
It's an abstract photograph of my friends, but in truth it's much more than that.
Time dwells within it:
the roads we walked together, the stories that shaped us, the deep affection that remains intact.
Then came the folds.
With Nicole's origami intervention — my daughter — the image transformed once again.
Her hands folded the photograph as if caressing memory, creating new forms where friendship unfolds and becomes movement.
This way, the piece holds two times and two gazes:
that of the friendship born in childhood and enduring,
and that of a new generation that touches it, interprets it, and gives it another life.
Because true friendship is that:
something time doesn't wear down…
it only makes it deeper.
The Forest
In the heart of the forest the image seemed still,
but something began to move between the lights and shadows.
It wasn't the wind.
It was imagination.
With the delicacy of origami, Nicole unfolded new shapes,
invisible folds that transformed the landscape.
The forest stopped being only trees and light:
it became movement, breath, story.
In her hands, what was a photograph
became something alive.
Perhaps that's what art is:
an instant that finds other hands,
other gazes,
and is born again
