Gabriela Timo
Bio
She is a photographer and holds a degree in Psychopedagogy. Her training and artistic practice share one interest: how we look, imagine, and construct what we believe we see.
Since 2021 she has trained in photography with Inés Miguens and Ángela Copello, with studies in editing and creative processes with Bea Blouson and Maru Álvarez Colodrero.
Her work moves along the border between the real and the imaginary. Through light, shadow, reflections, and the body, she transforms recognizable elements into ambiguous territory, where the familiar can become strange. She photographs from curiosity and intuition, seeking for the image to provoke a question, not an answer.
Her work has been shown at Pinta BA Photo 2025, the Museo Raggio, Punta del Este, and Acción Fotográfica, and is part of a permanent exhibition in Miami. At Pinta BA Photo 2026 she presents her research into the body and perception: the figure, once observed, now seems to return our gaze. What do we see when we look?
Statement
Where the gaze completes what is missing
A face appears — not a woman, not a doll,
it is where the gaze comes to rest.
Between the real and the imaginary, the figure takes on an unexpected presence.
It no longer offers itself passively to our observation:
it holds the gaze, it challenges, it persists.
The relationship between the one who looks and that which is looked at then begins to shift.
Certainty becomes doubt.
The object, presence.
The gaze, encounter.
What happens when what we look at looks back at us?
