Flavia-Da-Rin

Flavia Da Rin (Buenos Aires, 1978) specialized in painting at the National University of the Arts (UNA) and approached photography as a self-taught artist in a context shaped by emerging digital languages. Her work emerged at a time when the internet was beginning to profoundly transform the circulation of images and the ways people represent themselves.

She works from within this visual system, appropriating its codes, amplifying them, and distorting them. Through fiction, self-referential practices, and digital artifice, she explores our relationship with images and the notion of identity, seeking to deconstruct and alter these relationships through various processes of disfiguration.

Her work is situated in a contemporary landscape in which self-representation, symbolic consumption, and the logic of self-marketing shape new forms of subjectivity. In some series, she revisits a tradition established by twentieth-century women artists who used the body as a surface for fiction, experimentation, and inquiry.
