Sofía López Mañán is an Argentine artist, photographer, filmmaker, and naturalism student. Her work explores how we construct the idea of nature and the boundaries between human and non-human worlds. Through photography, film, archival research, and speculative storytelling, she brings artistic and scientific perspectives together to question the narratives, classifications, and imaginaries through which we shape our relationship with the natural world.
She is a National Geographic Explorer and a Vital Impacts Fellow. She has received fellowships from the Pulitzer Center and On the Edge. Her first book, Un Libro de la Naturaleza, was published by Sed Editorial in 2026. Her debut feature-length documentary, Kamatsu's Odyssey, premiered in the International Competition at BAFICI 2024.
