Curated by Irene Gelfman
This edition’s section is dedicated to Sandra Eleta (Panama, 1942), one of Latin America’s most significant photographers. Since the 1970s, when she settled in Portobelo, she has developed a body of work portraying the everyday lives of Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities in the Panamanian Caribbean. Pinta BAphoto pays tribute to a career in which closeness and a sense of belonging have become a way of seeing.
Marjalizo serves as the exclusive sponsor of the tribute to Sandra Eleta, building a bridge between Panama and the Latin American art scene. This initiative brings together real estate development and culture while celebrating one of the region’s great masters of photography.
