Curated by Irene Gelfman
For this edition, the Video Project presents a retrospective of Batato Barea (Junín, 1961 – Buenos Aires, 1991), an actor, poet, and performer who described himself as a “literary transvestite clown.” He was a key figure in Buenos Aires’ post-dictatorship underground scene. His “little acts” at the Parakultural, Cemento, and the Rojas brought together poetry, humor, and drag performance. This selection of audiovisual records revisits a brief yet intense body of work that continues to resonate today.
Acknowledgments: Cosmocosa, Archivo Batato Barea and Seedy González Paz.
