Fundación Larivière

Fundación Larivière Fotografía Latinoamericana, located in the La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires, manages a key collection of 20th-century Latin American photography and opens its space to the community.

Through exhibitions, publications, and educational programs, it preserves, studies, and promotes the work of the artists in the Collection, with its doors open to both local and international communities. The foundation is committed to becoming a meeting point and reference for Latin American photography.

At its headquarters, the Foundation houses nearly 5,000 works that make up the Collection in a space specifically designed to maintain ideal conservation conditions, with constant control of temperature and humidity.

Additionally, the Foundation has a bookstore specializing in works published by Latin American publishers, artist books, and limited editions from local and international circles. It also offers the complete catalog of Ediciones Larivière.

Ediciones Larivière was founded in 1992 by Dudu von Thielmann and Jean-Louis Larivière, the creator of the photographic collection housed by the Foundation. Convinced that cultural dissemination is crucial for a country’s education and social awareness, Jean-Louis did not hesitate to publish works by established artists as well as emerging young and previously unknown talents. His goal of promoting Latin America’s wonderful natural and cultural heritage led him to specialize in creative photography.

Exhibitions at Fundación Larivière
Fundación Larivière is inaugurating Fixed Ideas, an exhibition by Cecilia Szalkowicz, curated by Mariano Mayer, an Argentine poet and curator based in Madrid. The exhibition will feature a large-scale piece that functions both as a sculpture and as an exhibition support for a collection of photographs.
Additionally, on October 26, Fundación Larivière will open Carousel of Melancholies, an exhibition by renowned Chilean photographer Leonora Vicuña. This exhibition brings together 65 photographs and is curated by Alexis Fabry, with exhibition design by Juan Lobianco. A magnificent bilingual book with a text by Felipe Tupper will be published alongside the exhibition.
