The Puente de la Mujer, an icon in the Puerto Madero neighborhood, is the first work in Latin America by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and represents another example of the city’s cutting-edge art and architecture in the region.
It is also an impressive engineering project: thanks to having one of the largest rotating mechanisms in the world, this pedestrian bridge opens to allow sailing boats to pass through the Puerto Madero docks.
The Puente de la Mujer allows you to walk across Dique 3 of Puerto Madero from Av. Alicia Moreau de Justo to Olga Cossettini. Additionally, both the steel and all its components were manufactured in Vitoria, south of Bilbao, Spain, and transported to Buenos Aires to be assembled there.
