Since opening its doors, the main objective of the Livia Benavides Gallery has been the development of critical discourses on contemporary themes. The voices of the artists exhibiting in this space seek to lead us to political and social reflection. Promoting works by both established and emerging artists who have influenced the local art scene, the gallery's proposal for Pinta 2026 introduces new names to the international scene, building bridges and participating in an exchange that extends beyond our borders.
At this fair, held in an old house in Miraflores, the gallery participates with a selection of artists with a presence in the contemporary Peruvian and international art scene, whose practices address diverse approaches to language and materiality from local and global contexts. The exhibition features works by Iosu Aramburu, Chonon Bensho, Daniel de la Barra, Elena Damiani, Darío Escobar, Piero Figueroa Bravo, Sandra Gamarra Heshiki, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, L. Emperatriz, José Vera Matos, Andrés Pereira Paz, Ishmael Randall-Weeks, and David Zink Yi.
In this edition, the gallery presents Ishmael Randall-Weeks, Darío Escobar, and Elena Damiani for the first time at Pinta Lima, artists they have represented since last year. Escobar is currently exhibiting at the Jumex Museum, and this exhibition features works from his “Modern Sculptures” series. The selection also includes established artists such as David Zink Yi, Sandra Gamarra Heshiki, and Ximena Garrido-Lecca. Gamarra Heshiki is currently presenting her first retrospective at the São Paulo Museum of Art. This month, Garrido-Lecca will present an exhibition at the renowned High Line public exhibition space in New York, further solidifying the presence of Peruvian and Latin American art on the international institutional stage.
Additionally, Garrido-Lecca, along with Ishmael Randall-Weeks and Elena Damiani, recently presented "Signal and Strata" at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University, a group exhibition featuring three Peruvian artists represented by the gallery.
