Liliana Iturriaga

Bio

Liliana Iturriaga (Chile, 1965) is a visual artist whose practice focuses on the revaluation of geometric abstraction and kineticism within the Latin American context. After living in Venezuela for over three decades, where she studied design and fine arts, she returned to Chile in 2008 to deepen her research in printmaking and color theory at the Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica. Her work is part of prestigious permanent collections, including the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (Chile), the Museo de Artes Visuales MAVI UC, the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art (Texas), and MACBA (Buenos Aires). She is currently continuing her studies in art history, consolidating a career defined by technical experimentation and conceptual rigor.

Statement

My artistic proposal explores the energy of movement and the liberation of geometric forms through gesture. I employ a matrix that I displace across the pictorial surface, creating linear compositions of significant visual impact where kineticism arises from intuition and bodily rhythm. My work seeks to break away from the rational rigidity of traditional geometry, introducing layers and strata of color that evoke a sense of freshness and constant vibration. Nurtured by the light and exuberance of the tropics, my work is a dialogue between structural order and the freedom of the stroke, inviting the viewer into a dynamic and sensory experience of observation.
