At CAF’s Casa de la Integración in Asunción, the awards ceremony for the Creadoras Contest – Paraguay Edition – was held, paying tribute to the talent of women artists and artisans who are making their voices heard in the cultural field.

This was the first edition of the contest held outside Venezuela and represents an important step toward regional cultural integration. The event was supported by CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean – together with the Casa de la Integración, Volante Studio, GBGARTS, and the Creadoras project.

The jury – composed of Alejandra Claros Borda (Bolivia) – Secretary General of CAF; Adriana Almada (Argentina–Paraguay) – curator, writer, and art critic; Lorena González Inneco (Venezuela) – curator, writer, and playwright; Amanda Carneiro (Brazil) – MASP curator; and Nury González (Chile) – visual artist and professor at the University of Chile – met on July 17 at the Casa de la Integración in Asunción to select the outstanding works from more than 80 submissions in the categories of Crafts and Visual Arts.

This edition reaffirms CAF’s commitment to culture, women’s leadership, memory, and integration through the arts in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The 44 selected and awarded works are on display at the Casa de la Integración.

Honorable Mention: Leila Buffa – Memoria corrugada

VISUAL ARTS CATEGORY
First Prize: Claudia Suárez – Untitled
Second Prize: Valentina Coscia – La que se alza
Honorable Mentions: Mayeli Villalba – Akachara and María José Fiorio – Contra mensura
