Graciana Piaggio
Bio
Graciana was born in Córdoba, Argentina. She moved with her family to Buenos Aires When she was 3 month old where she grew and studied. She has a degree in marketing & international trade.
In 1999 she started painting. She has studied with great masters such as Carlos Gorriarena and Jorge Demirjian. She learnt ceramic sculpturing with Leo Tavella. She has also studied Art History, acquarel painting, and pottery and she have participated in many workshops along the years.
In 2011 she discovered photography. She attended to different clinics and workshops with Angela Copello, Juan Travnik, Valeria Bellusci, Adriana Lestido, Florencia Blanco.
Nowadays, she experiments with alternative photography processes specializing in gum bichromate, cyanotype, ziatype, lumens, chloropyll prints, among others.
Her work has been exhibited in Argentina and abroad.
Statement
Me interesa la idea de transformación, y cómo el tiempo colabora en ese sentido. A la vez la intervención del azar en el proceso, aparece lo que no podemos controlar, los pequeños accidentes.
El proceso de goma bicromatada me brinda la oportunidad de agregar capas y construir la imagen lentamente, dejándola crecer en el tiempo y con paciencia. Aparece un diálogo entre el artista y la imagen. Ver cómo la impresión cobra vida es una experiencia maravillosa.
Es gratificante poder trabajar con mis manos y al mismo tiempo crear copias irrepetibles. Me da satisfacción poder influir en la impresión a través de la elección de diferentes papeles, diferentes pigmentos y colores.
