Lola Garcia Berro
Bio
I was born in 1973 in Buenos Aires. I studied Law in UBA University. I began my photography studies in the United States in 2003. Back in Buenos Aires, in 2009 I deepened my fine art studies with Diego Ortiz Mugica. I took courses with renowned American photographers Bruce Baurbaum and John Sexton, in California.
I exhibited in various collective exhibitions BA Photo (2014, 2017 and 2020), Centro Cultural Recoleta “Gente de mi Ciudad” (2015), Museos Lucy Mattos (2013) and Sívori “Premio Ayerza” (2012), among others. Individual exhibition at the Central Society of Architects (2015).
Analog photography teacher at the Diego Ortiz Mugica school. Together with Agnes Lanfranco and Felicitas Bonino, she is the creator of the Taquicardia textile design brand.
Statement
Soy amante de la fotografía analógica y practico el sistema zonal. Por muchos años mi única cámara fue una cámara de formato medio analógica Hasselblad.
Disfruto mucho revelar mis negativos y la experiencia mágica del cuarto oscuro. Lo digital me gusta porque me permite hacer otro tipo de fotografía e imprimir en formato más grande. Soy facilitadora de meditación y encuentro en la fotografía la expresión de mi continúa búsqueda interna. Exploro a través de mis imágenes lo atemporal, la esencia, el vacío infinito y la sensación sólida e inamovible que subyace en lo profundo. Al mismo tiempo la observación del movimiento constante e imparable.
