Yuyo Gardiol
Bio
Yuyo Gardiol was born in San Carlos Centro, Santa Fe, Argentina, in 1980. An artist, curator, and independent cultural manager, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Facultad de Humanidades y Artes at the Univesidad Nacional de Rosario (U.N.R). Her work has earned recognition on several occasions, including the Premio Fondo Nacional de las Artes en el LXIX Salón Nacional in Rosario (2015) and the 12SAR16 award for the "Reverdecer" project.
She has done residencies in Madrid (Spain), San Martín de los Andes (Argentina), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).

Statement
My work is imbued with the thought of how humanity inhabits the world and its relationship with nature. I am interested in creating immersive and dreamlike atmospheres. The mood of my works is often melancholic and reflective.
Observing nature, its movements, admiring its patience, its calm and fury, its wisdom, is a habit inherited from my grandparents. And it is inevitable for me to reflect on the increasingly accelerated and functional human behavior, serving a system that generates overproduction without knowing why, without explanation or awareness of the harm we cause to the world as a humanity.
I live artistic practice as a vital necessity. It is the way I can condense many emotions and sensations.
