Bio

EnFoco is a collective made up of eight Argentine artists driven by a deep concern for the environment. Using photography as their starting point, they expand their limits by combining various techniques and materials, creating a poetic universe while reflecting on the issues most pressing contemporary works. Their works, whether photographs, installations or videos, have been exhibited numerous times in exhibitions and international fairs in Argentina, Spain, Paraguay and the United States.

Statement

In “Of threads and lands” ENFOCO’s artists immerse themselves in nature once again, led by their environmental concern, a hallmark of/which has woven/ their artistic track record. During the exploration process, the boundary between nature and artifice becomes blurred, unveiling an uncertain but intriguing/inviting harmony between them.
They suggest a lyrical journey, drawing inspiration from the problem of landfills being fed by the textile industry’s overproduction. Through their expanded photos, combining varied techniques and media, they kindly invite us to reflect upon the pressing issues of today.
They started their research in Atacama, where tons of clothes coming from different parts of the world are thrown away; this waste piles up in the desert, causing serious health and environmental problems.
However, this landscape replicates in other latitudes and, without clinging to documentary cruelty, they use clothes landfills as a starting point for engaging in visual and poetic meditation, where reality and dreams are subtly intertwined.
The echo of this insight resonates in every image; it is an invitation to challenge our consumption habits and to reflect upon the impact caused to the environment by our footprint.
ENFOCO conceives a surreal universe, envisaging how this invitation could reshape the current landscape and dramatically alter nature, while dreaming and picturing a more sustainable and harmonious future, in equilibrium.
