Yara Sonseca Mas is and independent curator who has an Art History Bachelor’s degree by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

She started her work as curator at the Fundación Mapfre in Madrid, by coordinating exhibitions, introductory seminars to contemporary art, and her incipient collection on paper between 2001 and 2004. Between 2006 and 2015 she ran the exhibitions department at La Casa Encendida in Madrid, where she commissioned expositions, specific projects and new productions for emerging artists. She coordinated projects and edited publications dedicated for people like Antonin Artaud, John Cage, Louise Bourgeois, Arthur Rimbaud, Joseph Kosuth and Andy Warhol.

In line with her interests of art and literature, in 2011 she commissioned the exhibition Beckett films for the CAAC in Sevilla, in collaboration with writer Javier Montes. Parallel to her work she has continue to work in relation with new forms of artistic expression in projects such as Circuitos y Circuitos-Procesos, represented in 2016 by the Sala de Arte Joven en Comunidad de Madrid y LABoral, Gijón. That same year she presented the exhibition Double Negative, in honor of Amie Siegel and her 10 last years of work in Munich, alongside with a catalog published by Mousse Publishing. Just like this, she published varuiys texts dedicated to young artists such as Daniel Bocatto, Ella Littwitz and Luis Vasallo, participating also as a writer for the emergent 2016 art fair Casa Leibniz.

Ever since 2015 she has worked in collaboration with artist José Antonio Suárez Londoño, presenting her first retrosperspective in Europe, Muestrario, at La Casa Encendida in Madrid, CAPC Bordeaux and MAMM Medellín. Colaborations continue up until 2018, with the exhibition Almanaque, which will be open to public at Museo Villa Stuck in Munich.
