George Friedman

George Friedman was part of the group La Carpeta de los 10, the photographers that in the 50's played a fundamental role in the modernization of photography in Argentina.
Born in Hungary, he lived in France and the United States, working in cinema as a cameraman and illuminator for important directors. In 1939 he decided to settle down with his family in Argentina, where he turned to photography. He worked as a graphic reporter for Editorial Atlántida and magazines such as Vu, Time and Life. Since 1947 he was linked to César Civita, founder and director of Editorial Abril, and began to participate in the magazines Nocturno and Idilio. There, exploiting his cinematographic gaze, he produced a series of 'photonovels' which are a central body of his work together with urban photography.
