Víctor López- Rúa

Bio

Visual artist with training in Spain and Italy, renowned as one of the most distinctive voices in Spanish figurative painting. His work, influenced by German New Objectivity and cinema, is characterized by a narrative approach, the influence of literature, as well as its dreamlike and surreal nature. His career began in Madrid in the late nineties, with exhibitions at the Casa de América and the Palacio de Exposiciones, followed by shows in La Coruña, Compostela, and Estoril. In the mid-last decade, he joined Galería Sen, and in 2010, he collaborated on the exhibition "Underground Surfaces" at Sala El Águila in Madrid. In 2012, he initiated research on Stereoscopic Painting in collaboration with Enxebre Entertainment. This innovative concept has been presented in various places, including the Centro León in the Dominican Republic and the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo. In 2015, the Eugenio Granell Foundation Museum presented his exhibition project "The Disquieting Beauty." During 2016 and 2017, he created illustrations for the first edition of Valle-Inclán's Sonatas. In 2017, he inaugurated the Stereoscopic Painting project "The Mental Twin" at the Alcobendas Art Center in Madrid. In 2019, he began his journey in Mexico with an exhibition at the Cultural Center of Spain in Mexico, where he also served as a curator. This event took him to the Francisco Goitia Museum in Zacatecas, where he presented his art research. Since then, he established a collaboration with the Contemporary Hispanic Gallery and Proyecto H, based in Madrid and Mexico, with whom he exhibited his work in Mexico City in an exhibition called "The Rediscovered Landscape." In 2020, he inaugurated a new project titled "The Unceasing Aura" at the Trinta Gallery in Santiago de Compostela.
