Leonardo Trombetta
Bio
Born in 1968 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sculptor trained in Miguel Harte's sculpture workshop, Alejandra Jones' raku ceramic workshop and Claudio Ibáñez Menta's goldsmith and blacksmith workshop. He has held a workshop with Tomas Espina. Since 1995 he has participated in various individual and collective exhibitions.
Among his individual exhibitions in Buenos Aires, the most notable are those at Espacio de Artes del SPA Evian and Salamanca and Galería Studio de Arte in Curitiba (Brazil). He has participated in various collective exhibitions: Caosmosis (Paris, France); Marabunta Estudiovisit latinoamericanos; Júbilo, ojo errante; Ciudad Abierta (Konex Foundation, Buenos Aires); Cinco Jóvenes Artistas, Galería Espaço Mágico (Florianópolis, Brazil), Galeria Praxis Buenos Aires, among others.
Statement
Leonardo Trombetta whose porcelains, with characters emerging as if torn from the material, appear abrupt and disembodied. We are faced with a torn and strong work, with a high subjective tension. His works bring us closer to the most transversal story of all humanity, to the primordial relationship between human and animal, between physis and logos, between the sublime and the sinister. Trombetta's work gives proof of a soul that will "take body" from the porcelain. It relates to beings who try to reaffirm their strength, their heaviness and their matter within their own grotesque world of dense clay.
