Statement
The work of Marco Alom unfolds between the practice of drawing and ancestral knowledge, encompassing history, anthropology, myth, the understanding of nature, and the intersections between nature and collective human customs. Alom's artistic practice is infused with a contemplation of isolation and an exploration of forms within the landscape to uncover new pathways in the creative process—a journey inward, where he traverses the territory by drawing it.
This journey results in images laden with symbolism, reflecting on the importance of spatial and temporal voids for individual growth, with the Atlantic territory playing a fundamental role. Living and working in El Hierro, a remote volcanic island at the edge of the vast ocean, grants Alom's work the unique character of someone who inhabits the end of the world, on the brink of the void.
