Cecilia Muro
Bio
Cecilia Muro (1977), an emerging Argentine photographer who has lived in Chile for the past seven years, draws her creative approach from a multidisciplinary background.
She holds a degree in Business Administration, and her artistic path began in fashion design, where for six years she ran her bikini label, “Mar Adentro.” That experience sharpened her sense of color, texture, and form, the fundamental elements that now shape her photographic eye.
Over time, photography became her main means of expression, allowing her to explore new ways of telling visual stories. She trained in workshops with leading figures such as Diego Ortiz Mujica, Ana Sánchez Zini, Bea Blousson, and Vivian Galban, who guided her in the technical and conceptual development of her work.
In 2025, Cecilia Muro received the Andea Prize, which honors the best young artist taking part in this edition of Art Week Chile 2025.
She has participated in Photo Basel 2026, ChaCo art fair 2026, Pinta Photo 2025, 2626, PHOTO London 2025, and the group show “El Silencio de la Imagen” (2025) at GALLERyLABS.
Statement
Cecilia Muro freezes moments of dynamism and speed, creating a visual paradox in which the fleeting becomes eternal. In her work, the tension between stillness and change takes center stage, revealing how the flow of life can be condensed into a single photographic gesture.
In her series “La belleza del alma” (“The Beauty of the Soul”), Muro experiments with movement and long exposure, capturing the delicacy of magnolia petals. Her technique makes each image unrepeatable, revealing unique forms and subtle transparencies created by light.
In each image, details such as a texture, a shadow, or a minimal gesture take on new relevance. What seems insignificant becomes the center of attention, reshaping the way we look.
