Statement

Carlos Furman's practice navigates the evocative boundary between documentary record and poetic fiction. As a landmark figure in the photography of the Teatro San Martín, his work reinterprets the ephemeral; he masterfully captures light and dramatic tension to transform the fleeting nature of the scene into an autonomous visual narrative.
In his contemporary personal work, Furman expands this mastery of lighting and theatricality into staged photography. Through the use of toys and scale-built sets, he crafts unsettling micro-narratives without any digital intervention. His playful gaze, imbued with a strong formalist rigor, challenges the certainties of perception and creates silent atmospheres where memory, childhood, and the dreamlike subtly converge.
