BOA MISTURA
Bio
BOA MISTURA is a multidisciplinary group of artists with roots in graffiti, born at the end of 2001 in Madrid, Spain. Their work develops mainly in public spaces, having carried out projects in Cape Town, Norway, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Venice, Algiers or New York.
Boa Mistura has been invited to the Venice Biennale, has participated inexhibitions in art centres such as the Reina Sofia Museum, Casa Encendida, Raquel Ponce Gallery, Ponce + Robles Gallery or DA2 Museum in Salamanca.
They have collaborated with foundations such as ONCE, Intermon Oxfam, Red Cross or Antonio Gala and have given lectures at TEDxMadrid, or at Universities such as in Madrid, Seville, Cuenca, Alcalá de Henares or Santander.
The term “Boa Mistura”, from the Portuguese “buena mezcla”, refers to the diversity of styles and points of view of each of its individuals has. Love for graffiti, colour and life. Different visions that complement each other, influence and mix in favour of a unique result.
Statement
Their practice focuses on intervening in public space through murals, typography, and color, with a strong social and participatory component. Their projects are developed in collaboration with local communities, aiming to transform the urban environment and create connections between people and their surroundings. Through art, the collective explores how space can become a place for encounter, identity, and shared reflection.
