Cecilia Ordóñez

Bio

Cecilia Ordóñez París (Pamplona, 1949) is a Colombian sculptor and ceramist whose practice stands as a key contribution to contemporary ceramics in the country. Her work explores the relationships between form, material, and process, combining traditional knowledge with rigorous formal research. Throughout her career, she has developed a distinctive language based on repetition, assembly, and modular construction, where clay becomes a medium to reflect on structure, time, and transformation. In addition to her artistic production, she has played a significant role as an educator, influencing several generations of artists in Colombia.

Statement

Cecilia Ordóñez París’s practice focuses on the exploration of ceramics as an expanded field, where sculpture, design, and material thinking converge. Through processes of repetition and assembly, she constructs modular forms that engage with notions of structure, balance, and transformation. Her work investigates the physical and symbolic qualities of clay, articulating a language that moves between the organic and the architectural, revealing time and gesture in the making of form.
