Vera de Tcherassi

Bio

She began her artistic practice at the age of 80, her work is the result of a life dedicated to exploration and innovation in fashion—a trajectory that allowed her to move fluidly across diverse fields and build a memorable career. Her bond with nature—her primary source of inspiration—and her commitment to it have led her, over the past fifteen years, to devote herself to preserving the iconic Macondo tree, which was then at risk of extinction.

Statement

Visionary, extraordinarily creative, and deeply connected to nature, Vera is an artist whose work exudes a passion for color, volume, and space.
A leader of a family in which creativity, innovation, and commitment are at the core of every endeavor, Vera is also the co-founder of an internationally recognized luxury brand inspired by the colors and organic forms of the natural environment. Her nearly four decades of experience in the fashion industry gave her a unique perspective from which to approach art: always guided by her fascination with vibrant colors and dynamic forms. This aesthetic sensitivity, combined with her deeply investigative spirit, led her to find in sculpture a definitive language through which to develop her artistic talents in a more personal and introspective manner.
Intuitive and innovative, Vera approaches creation with a versatility expressed through her exploration of materials, colors, textures, and volumes. The result is a body of sculptural work that invites contemplation. Her series “Highs and Lows… Like Those of Life” encapsulates the philosophical and emotional essence of her work. Through variations in the arrangement of painted slats, she symbolizes the inevitable ups and downs of human existence. This profound narrative reflects her artistic maturity and her ability to transform personal experiences into sculptural expressions. Each piece is a celebration of her life, shaped by resilience and experience, and an opportunity to convey a message of optimism and hope as driving forces of creation.
Thus, Vera embodies the power of transformation—moving from fashion to art—and reaffirming, at a mature age, that passion recognizes no calendar. Her work is an invitation to interpret the world, and life itself, through creativity, form, and color.
