Founded in 2010, Carmen Araujo Arte is a gallery dedicated to the research, exhibition, and dissemination of contemporary Venezuelan and Latin American visual arts. It has two main areas of focus. On the one hand, it focuses on the work of contemporary visual artists who address the following themes: first, the critical reinterpretation of modern traditions within contemporary aesthetic expressions; second, reflections on the problems of memory and the defining characteristics of Latin America; and third, discussions surrounding current political and social issues. Carmen Araujo Arte also explores modern and contemporary photography that views Latin America as a heterogeneous and expanding symbolic, intellectual, and geographical territory. This exploration includes, but is not limited to, Latin American artists.
