Jeronimo Villa
Bio
Jerónimo Villa (Bogotá, Colombia) creates conceptually driven works that repurpose materials to challenge their inherent function. Born to a sculptor father and fashion designer mother, he developed an early fascination with material transformation, which informs his geometric, wall-mounted compositions. Trained as a musician at the University of Los Andes (2008), Villa translated his sense of rhythm and composition into the visual arts, experimenting with materials to merge diverse art historical forms. He has completed residencies at Prairie Center of the Arts (IL, 2012), Artula Environmental Arts (OR, 2011), and the DC Art Foundation (Miami, 2022). Villa exhibits frequently across Colombia and the United States and is represented by LnS Gallery, exploring materiality, form, and the lifecycle of objects.
Statement
Jerónimo Villa creates conceptually driven works that repurpose materials to challenge their inherent function, transforming everyday objects into geometric, three-dimensional compositions. Born to a sculptor father and fashion designer mother, he developed an early fascination with material transformation. Trained as a musician, Villa translates rhythm and composition into his visual practice, exploring abstraction, dualities, and the interplay of fragility and strength. Drawing on music and Eastern philosophies, his work invites reflection on balance, transcendence, and the spiritual dimensions of material and space.
