Elda Munar
Bio
Elda Munar, a visual artist, illustrator, curator, and manager born in Santiago del Estero, has over 40 years of experience in drawing, printmaking, painting, installations, and urban art. She has exhibited in national and international museums and galleries, and has received numerous awards in provincial salons, lifetime achievement awards, and the "Women Who Inspire" recognition in Visual Arts. She has been selected for multiple national exhibitions. A co-founder of collectives such as Encontrarte and ÑAN, she was director of the Santiago Museum of Fine Arts and president of the ÑAN Visual Artists Association. Her work is part of the national heritage and has been recognized by institutions such as the National Endowment for the Arts and the Federal Investment Council (CFI). She spearheaded the creation of an art museum at the Catholic University of Santiago del Estero. Her commitment to art and culture has established her as a leading figure in her province.
Statement
Elda Munar, an artist from Santiago del Estero, conceives of art as a process of constant transformation and reinvention. Her practice is a territory where identity, sensitivity, and perception merge into a single creative flow. Each work is born as an exploration: an emotional laboratory where the intimate becomes collective, where the observer completes the meaning and recognizes themselves in the experience. She works with ink, pencil, collage, acrylic, printmaking, and textiles as an ecosystem of languages that integrate and expand the limits of possibility. In each piece, a process of meaning is activated: to stop, listen, and allow oneself to be moved. The focus is on being—its energy, its environment. Her work does not offer definitive answers; it opens resonances, enables dialogues, and constructs worlds. For her, art is a territory of radical freedom: it reveals you, reinvents you, and confirms that to exist is also to create.
