Sebastián Boesmi
Bio
Salta, Argentina 1980. Lives and works in between Madrid, ES and Asunción, PY
Boesmi has a degree in Visual Arts from the National University of Asunción, and specializes in painting at The Art Students League of New York. He also completed an Official Master's Degree in Research in Art and Creation and another Master's Degree in Art, Market and Entrepreneurship, both at the Complutense University of Madrid.
In more than two decades of career, Boesmi has held 21 individual exhibitions in art galleries and institutions, in addition to participating in numerous group exhibitions and international artistic residencies. The artist lived and worked during long stays in cities such as New York, Johannesburg, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Asunción and Miami. These experiences have consolidated a global vision that is reflected in his work, which is part of important private collections in America and Europe.
His works have been exhibited at the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (I.V.A.M.),Just Mad Art Fair, SWAB Art Fair, the Borges Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, the Visual Arts Center -
Museo del Barro, the Citibank Cultural Center and the National Museum of Fine Arts in
Asunción, among others.
Statement
My work explores themes such as transformation, nature, identity, and the interaction
between humanity and the environment. I use mediums such as painting, drawing
sculpture, and video art to create a visual narrative that, in most cases, reflects
complexity and profusion. My work is based on the combination of materials that
dialogue between the organic and the artificial, generating a tension that is not limited
to contrasts, but rather seeks to find points of connection. These intermediate surfaces
are spaces where pictorial energy is transformed into volume, and the work itself is
understood as a territory of constant exploration and experimentation.
I am interested in hybrids, in what escapes rigid definitions. In this sense, I seek to
decolonize what has been learned, unassembled what is given, question what is
established, and reinvigorate what is taken for granted with meaning. Through my
images, I reconstruct narratives, imagining a dialectic between what seems fixed and
what is constantly changing, inviting the viewer to a profound reflection on the
relationship between human beings and the environment they inhabit.

Piano Bull nace de un recuerdo entrañable: mi madre tocando el piano y la sensación de
compañía que me daba aquel instrumento. Es más que una escultura; es una historia que sigue transformándose.
Desde niño, llenaba mis cuadernos con estos personajes mitad toro y mitad piano que, sin
saberlo, ya eran parte de mi universo creativo. Hoy, esos mismos dibujos se han expandido en pinturas, serigrafías, neones y finalmente, en esculturas como Piano Bull en donde la fuerza del toro y la sensibilidad del piano se entrelazan y que según el artista ̈La mezcla de la fuerza y la sensibilidad es algo muy poderoso y atractivo.
