Ivana Vollaro
Bio
Ivana Vollaro (b. 1971, Buenos Aires) works on the connections between words and images, exploring the boundaries between the formal and informal, language, and the errors that arise from these limits.
From the beginning, her practice has been aligned with Conceptualism and the traditions of Visual poetry, graphic arts, and Mail Art. Through the subtlety of humor, her works become a space for reflection on form, translation, and identity. Vollaro’s production spans multiple mediums, including artist books and publications, photography, video, installation, as well as performance and sound pieces.
Vollaro studied Arts and Law at the University of Buenos Aires. She received the Antorchas Foundation Grant for international studies and later a scholarship for the Universidade de Verão program at the Capacete residency in Rio de Janeiro. Since then, she has built strong collaborative ties with Brazilian artists. She attended workshops by artist Mirtha Dermisache and has participated in festivals and biennials of experimental poetry since the late 1990s.
Her work is regularly exhibited at leading institutions in Argentina, Brazil, and several European countries.
