Fernanda Piamonti
Bio
Fernanda was born in 1973, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has a degree in Visual Arts from UNLP (National University of La Plata) where she also graduated as a teacher. She has postgraduate studies at the Ernesto de la Cárcova School, in Buenos Aires.
Since 1993 she has participated in national and international exhibitions where she has received awards and scholarships. She attended temporary residencies in France, Germany and Spain. Her works are part of the collections of different Foundations such as OSDE, YPF, Nation Bank Argentinian, Fleming Institute, Borges Cultural Center and private collections in England, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, the United States, Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina. . He currently lives and works in Argentina.
Statement
My work comprises constant material research resources and their possibilities. Depending on the characteristics of each element which I work with, I discover and use different techniques and procedures. As a result new languages with unprecedented working techniques emerge. In the Atmospheres series I worked on the ancestral austerity of water and charcoal, their primitive presence, creating a brutal or elegant atmosphere. The series Piedra y Medusa, those works are both paintings and drawings. I make those pieces on oiled cardboard that is activated with white and colored lights, while in the Melee series I induce the sun with tar to print its chromaticism.
