Carolina Vila
Bio
Carolina Vila is an artist based in Miami, Florida, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She moved to Miami in pursuit of artistic ideals and as a next step in her career.
For the past twenty years Carolina has worked across many disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and jewelry design. Currently working from her studio in Miami, her one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces are all handcrafted with 925 sterling silver and precious and semi-precious gems.
Statement
Carolina’s aesthetic is heavily inspired by the most prolific European goldsmith masters like Cellini, Faberge, Lalique, as well as other contemporary art designers.
Her use of clean, geometric lines contradicts the organic and natural shapes she hand crafts, creating a dynamic dialogue between biotic form and structural design.
Her work is raw yet finished, using silver and gold that are hand welded and polished for the final ready-to-wear piece. Her palette consists of natural hues with moments of bursting color and precious stones, created to spark curiosity, in a futuristic yet primal manner.
Always the materials, stones, seeds, natural woods and the shapes of the elements lead her to build the Sculpture objects from melting the metal, making the sheet and wire, from here she departs to incorporate all these elements that inspired her in many travels through the Americas, discovering the mix of cultures, closeness to nature, colors, lights, and movements, creating a broader vision and achieving a unique size synthesis, almost jewels, almost toys, amalgamating architectural symbols and its irony with art… now she enters into her ludic world!
