Diego Masi
Bio
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1965, Diego Masi began his studies in Technical Drawing at the Instituto de Enseñanza de la Construcción at 18 and later trained at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. He was part of the Luis Ernesto Aroztegui Workshop from 1987 to 1993 and joined the National Postal Service's stamp design team in the late 1990s. Known for his geometric repertoire of flat figures, circles, and black-and-white stripes, his work creates optical effects while maintaining a playful and emotive tone. He has won numerous awards, including the First Prize at the VI National Exhibition of Young Plastic Artists (1994) and the First Prize in the "100 years of the Venice Biennale" competition (1995). His work has been exhibited internationally in the US, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

Diego Masi has developed a practice focused on the use of flat geometric figures, such as circles and stripes, creating visual compositions that play with optical effects. His style is marked by technical perfection and the ability to transform the geometric into an emotional and playful experience. Throughout his career, he has managed to strip his works of coldness, achieving tender and luminous forms that evoke feelings of joy and humor.
