Schlumpp Andrea
Bio
I was born in 1962 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I graduated as an architect from the University of Belgrano (UB) and as a landscape designer from the Argentine School of Green Spaces (EAEP). In 2017, I began studying digital photography through various workshops and clinics. I trained with Angela Copello in photographic project development, editing, and visual storytelling; with Vivian Galbán in media research, processes, and contemporary photography; and with Juan Brath in photographic editing, developing, and post-production. Today, I live in Buenos Aires. I am currently taking Ana Sánchez Zinny’s contemporary photography workshop and participating in my second year of the Artwork Analysis Workshop (TAO) led by Daniel Fischer.
Statement
I am currently working on introspection and emotional fractures, exploring our thoughts and what remains hidden within us. I use nature as a medium to express these internal states and as a sensitive entity. I share a deep bond with the natural environment, observing its strength, its changes, and its mutations over time. Nature is my source of inspiration and the territory where I find images capable of expressing what cannot always be said.
I seek expansive landscapes where the human scale becomes small, and an apparent calm creates a sense of unrest. They are perfect settings that function as a stable facade where absence becomes visible. Within them, I find beauty through emptiness—a refuge to accept that life is circular, ephemeral, and that everything ends. My work invites viewers to peer in as observers of these moments of vulnerability, leaving space for each gaze to complete new narratives.
