Statement

The work of Roberto Diago (Havana, 1971) focuses on memory, identity, and the traces of African heritage in Cuban culture. Using humble materials such as wood, jute, and rusted iron, the artist constructs a visual language that evokes both fragility and resilience. His work explores the scars of racism and exclusion while celebrating the strength and spirituality of the African diaspora. Diago transforms the everyday into symbol, offering a reflection on history, inequality, and the power of art to heal and reconstruct collective memory.
