Andrea Ostera

Bio

She was born in 1967 in Salto Grande, Santa Fe, Argentina.
In 1992 and 1993 she studied at the International Center of Photography, New York. Between 1997 and 1999, she participated in the Kuitca Scholarship for Young Artists. In 2001 she completed a Fine Arts Master’s degree at NYU.

Her work is part of the collections of the National Fine Arts Museum (Buenos Aires), Museum of Modern Art (Buenos Aires), Castagnino+Macro Museum (Rosario), Museum for Contemporary Art (Bahía Blanca).
She lives and works in Rosario.

Statement

Research into the photographic medium, its conditions, limits and possibilities has been the main focus of his projects. Visiomancy (Signature and Odilo Estévez Museum of Decorative Art, Rosario, 2023/2024); Double exhibition (Arco-Madrid, 2023); 11 combined operations (Diego Obligado Art Gallery, Rosario, 2019), Persona (Kirchner Cultural Center, Buenos Aires, 2018), Affair (Ricardo Rojas Cultural Center, Buenos Aires, 2017), +room (Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario, 2016) and Screenshots (Mal de Archivo, Rosario, 2016) are among his most recent individual exhibitions. In 2022 he presents System Preferences, an exhibition shared with Gabriel Valansi (Centro Cultural Borges, Buenos Aires). In 2018, Ediciones Diego Obligado presents a monographic book about his work: Andrea Ostera. Obras/Works 1994-2017.
