Alberto Cavalieri
Bio
Alberto Cavalieri was born in Caracas in 1969. He studied mechanical engineering, industrial design and art. He began his artistic career in 1993. Since 2016 he lives and works in Miami, United States.
Statement
Since the beginning of my career I have been interested in the physical and mechanical properties of objects as well as the possible three-dimensional expressions of materials. Sculpture is the most appropriate medium for me to solve and materialize the conceptual problems that I pose myself. I assume the creation with intensity, I want my work to be big in ambition and dimension. My proposals are part of an investigative development in which each piece gives rise to the next; a creative process that, in addition to being varied, is transformable and evolving. My interest has been to challenge our physical laws, to alter our sense of logic, to bend and transfigure materials, always suggesting their impossibility. I develop sinuously contorted steel forms, forms that draw the space in an organic way, that knot naturally, that intervene the architecture and seem to levitate.
