Bio
Alice Wagner , Lima 1974
She studied fine arts at the school of Arte Corriente Alterna and has a bachelor's degree in art history through the complementary baccalaureate program.
In 2005 she received The Pollock Krasner grant, awarded by the foundation of the same name in New York. She has had eleven solo exhibitions.
Her work is part of the PAMM (Pérez Art Museum of Miami), MALI (Museo de Arte de Lima), Nasher Museum of Duke University in North Carolina, among other important collections in the world.
She won the national painting award of the BCR central reserve bank of Peru in 2018.
She currently lives and works in Lima.
Statement
My work is characterized by the continuous use of diverse techniques and materials.
I have employed the appropriation of graphic material and its subsequent re-elaboration in order to explore a wide range of themes.
In recent years I have been attracted to the vestiges or remnants of cultural elements that were once part of mass circulation.
I consider that a gentle but deliberate irony surrounds my work and I believe that the analysis of the past and history have been and continue to be my thematic axis.
