Bio
She has featured individual and collective exhibitions in Peru, Mexico, USA, France and Colombia. It also participates in specialized photography fairs in Peru, Uruguay, Argentina, Switzerland and Germany. In recent years, his work has received recognition from institutions such as the Center for Fine Art Photography (Colorado, USA). He has also won the Acquisition Prize at the S.A Project Contest organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogotá (Bogotá, Colombia) and first place in the Grand Prix de la Découverte (Paris, France). His work has been selected to integrate the Latin American section of the 6th Dali International Photo Festival in China. His work was selected for the latest retrospective dedicated to photographic portraiture in Peru, From Daguerreotype to Selfie held at the ICPNA in Miraflores. His work is part of the Fola – Latin American Photography collection, of the National Library of Paris and of important private collections.
Statement
Her work is a permanent open question on the construction of identity and memory. Garcia collects images (be they her own or out of archives) and along this process, the objects/subjects are portrayed in such a way that they always raise questions about the category of the object in itself and its congenital capacity to transform itself into subject. Her work is articulated through an intimate and unique process, defined by an understanding, emanating from each individual's experiences and specificities, aspects which are inherent in her discursive production. The act of encoding and decoding the piece is an invitation to fill a hybrid and infinite space from the references given by Garcia´s work.
